An extreme sportsman from Spain will complete a 5000 kilometre cycling adventure at the Sydney Opera House tomorrow morning.
Juan Menendez Granados has endured the country’s most treacherous terrain during a diagonal expedition which saw him cycle from 80-Mile Beach through the Alice Springs region, Bourke, Dubbo and Sydney.
City of Sydney Councillor John McInerney and Bicycle NSW CEO Alex Unwin will meet Juan to congratulate him.
“Part of the City of Sydney’s Sustainable 2030 vision is to make Sydney a city for walking and cycling, so it is fitting that Juan will complete his expedition at one our most iconic landmarks,” Cr McInerney said.
“Cycling is a green, convenient, healthy and cheap form of transport, but is also a great way to get fit and have fun.
“This is a staggering accomplishment and I look forward to welcoming Juan to Sydney and presenting him with a certificate of achievement on behalf of the Sydney community.”
