Spring into school holiday action

From building bots to learning to ride a bike and teen poetry slams, there’s an activity for kids of all ages in Sydney over the spring school holidays.

The City of Sydney’s school holiday program from Saturday 23 September to 8 October has dozens of activities to suit children from five to 15.

Parents and carers are invited to book a spot at one of the many creative workshops at local libraries across the city area.

Activities include interactive musical workshops with the renowned Musica Viva and the chance to build, race and do battle with bots. For those who like getting outdoors, families can stroll beautiful Hyde Park to catch an exhibition featuring the photography of Sydney youngsters, or get active with a full day of cycling and outdoor adventures at Sydney Park.

There are great activities tailored for high school students, including a surf lesson at Maroubra, an Art Gallery of NSW workshop and a day at the movies.

“Our school holidays program is packed full of exciting workshops, sporting activities and performances,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

“Whether you’re tech-minded, love getting creative with words or prefer being outdoors, we’ve made sure there’s something for everyone with a great line-up of free and affordable events.

“The program is always popular and I hope our younger residents enjoy exploring different parts of the city, getting to experience something new and making new friends.”
