Art & About Sydney 2013 has tonight launched in Martin Place with the Lord Mayor Clover Moore announcing the winners of this year’s Sydney Life and its junior counterpart Little Sydney Lives competitions.
Jenny Evans from Woollahra is the winner of the prestigious $10,000 Sydney Life photography prize. Jenny’s stunning image, Eleanor, portrait of a boxer, was one of 22 finalist images selected from more than 1,300 submissions.
Freddie Payne from Manly took out honours in the 3-7 years category in Little Sydney Lives for his shot Climbing while Mia Frater from Rozelle won first prize in the 8-11 years category for her image The Sydney Opera House Face.
The Little Sydney Lives winners – selected from nearly 300 submissions – took home a new digital camera and accessories to the value of $500.
“The entries for Sydney Life and Little Sydney Lives were among the best we’ve ever seen, giving our judges a particularly challenging job,” said Lord Mayor Clover Moore.
“Sydney Life’s a real showcase of our city and its people, snapped by emerging and established photographers, while Little Sydney Lives is a fascinating insight into how our youngest citizens view their city.”
The 22 Sydney Life finalist images are exhibited along St James Avenue, Hyde Park North and the 20 finalist Little Sydney Lives images are exhibited in Sandringham Gardens, Hyde Park North during Art & About until 20 October.
Art & About Sydney runs from 20 September to 20 October 2013.
